Stupid cheers

My mom is currently kicking butt in the Echols family weight loss challenge, so I e-mailed her a cheer from her high school days in Tallassee, Alabama:

Are you ready?
Well I guess!
Tallassee! Tallassee!
Yes yes yes!

I know this cheer by heart because she will yell it whenever you ask her, "Are you ready?" Just as when you say, "It's a beautiful day," she will launch into the soundtrack from the musical Oklahoma. "Ooooooh what a beautiful mooooooooorniiiiiiiiiing, oooooooh what a beautiful daaaaaaaaay..." Loudly. You learn what not to say around her to avoid triggering her.

In honor of Mother's Day, my favorite cheers from my own high school days are ones that include the term "yo mama." There was a lot of "yo mama" going on at my high school.

We can take care of
We can take care of
We can take care of
You.
And yo mama too.

And this one's going into the book I'm writing now about football:

U-G-L-Y
You ain't got no alibi
You're ugly! Hey hey,
You're ugly! *clap, clap-clap*
M-A-M-A
How you think you got that way?
Yo mama! Hey hey,
Yo mama! *clap, clap-clap*

Can you top this? What's your favorite stupid cheer?

I'm sure you've seen BRING IT ON - and if you haven't, get right on that! There's a song on the soundtrack for U-G-L-Y. Yes, a 3 1/2 minute SONG version of that cheer. INSANITY.

I haven't seen it but thank God for Netflix! That sounds too cool!

Hey, believe it or not, I just got around to seeing Drumline three days ago (LOVED IT!!!!!).

I still haven't seen Drumline, but it is RIGHT up your alley. I hope it was done well. I know I get supercritical of movies/TV shows/plays/books about dancers and singers. (You really don't want to hear me go off on the movie Center Stage.)

I didn't see Drumline at first because I saw about 1 movie per year between the time my son was born and the time I signed up for Netflix a few months ago. More recently, even though I had a band book coming out, I didn't go out of my way to see it because I assumed it was bad. So many band people on MySpace HATE this movie. I mean, under their "Movies" section, they list this movie they love, that movie they love, and btw they HATE DRUMLINE!!! I suspect much of this may stem from the fact that they're drummers and the movie has drumlines doing stuff they can't do in real life. Plus, the lead actor obviously isn't playing a note. Shot of hands playing drum. Cut! Shot of actor's head. Cut! Shot of hands playing drum again. More supercriticism like your opinion of Center Stage. I get that way when actors fake playing the sax. But I wouldn't let something like that get in the way of my enjoyment of this particular awesome movie! They play Earth Wind & Fire!!!
