Almost four years ago in October 2006, just a few months after Major Crush, my first novel, had been published, I finally got the okay from Simon Pulse to start this blog. We've had hundreds of posts and countless visitors over the years, but I never thought that after four years, we'd still have eleven Simon Pulse Romantic Comedies authors participating.
However, we have decided to close the blog and concentrate on other projects. Over the next week you'll find other authors posting here to say goodbye and tell you where else you can find them online.
You know where to find me: my web site, my guest book, my personal blog, Facebook, and Twitter.
But I've really appreciated your support of this blog over the years. As a thank you, I'm giving away all four of my romantic copies: a copy of Major Crush, a copy of The Ex Games, and The Boys Next Door and Endless Summer together in one volume. I will draw one winner at random. To enter, you should be at least 13, and if you're a youngling you should have your significant adult's permission. You must enter before midnight Central Daylight Time on Wednesday, August 25. U.S. addresses only, please. It costs eighteen dollars to send Endless Summer alone to Vietnam. I found this out the hard way.
For a chance to win, just e-mail me at echolsjenn (at) yahoo (dot) com AND post a comment here about your favorite romantic comedy. It could be a Simon Pulse Romantic Comedy, another book, or a movie. Just don't say in your post, "You are my favorite author, Jennifer Echols, besides Catherine Clark," because I get enough of that already.
Thank you, blogosphere, for being so kind over the years. The day in July 2005 when I sold my first novel, and the day in October 2006 when I got this baby up and running, I never could have predicted how involved I would get with the reading and writing communities online, or how rewarding it would be.

Hands down my all time favorite romantic comedy movie is The Ugly Truth.. Talk about hilarious!! I could watch it over and over again and never get sick of it!
I will have to rent that, Trisha!
Fav. rom com? It's a tie between The Ugly Truth and How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days!
I have spent forever trying to think of my favorite rom-com. So weird.
BRIDGET JONES' DIARY (the film) is fairly perfect. SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE is also good.
I guess those would be my two choices? For someone who constantly thinks and talks and breathes rom-com, my go-to list is kinda short. Bummer.
As far as books go, I think Jennifer Crusie's BET ME is practically perfection.
Kate, I really enjoyed How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days too.
CT, have you read the Bridget Jones novel? Also very good and very close to the movie.
I do love Bet Me but my very favorite Crusie is Tell Me Lies. Welcome to Temptation and Crazy for You are also front-runners. I'm so thrilled that Maybe This Time is coming out on the 31st, and I thank my lucky stars every day that I still have a lot of Crusie to read!
My favorite romantic comedy will, and always will be, When Harry Met Sally :)
Yeah, jpetroroy, that's probably my favorite ro-com movie.
Movie wise, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Ugly Truth, and 27 Dresses tie. Book wise - I adore so many of the scenes in Major Crush and also from South Beach Sizzle.
Thanks Erica!
My favorite romantic comedies are the films Fools Rush In and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I love to see people of different backgrounds/ethnicities coming together (and inevitably clashing) in hilarious ways.
I need to see Fools Rush In. I enjoyed parts of Greek Wedding but it made me very uncomfortable. I love my parents so much and I am so glad they live 80 miles away. Any closer and I might start to love them less (and I'm sure the feeling is mutual).
Fave romantic comedy as in movie ... My Best Friend's Wedding. Is that consider a romantic comedy?
Fave romantic comedy as in book ... Endless Summer ... truly! I luvd it!
My favorite romantic comedy movies are Why did I get Married?(I love this movie),13 going on 30 and Two week Notice.
I really like how to lose a guy in 10 days for movies and the Princess Diaries are great romcom books
Y'all have terrific taste! Tina, you're right, My Best Friend's Wedding has a twist at the end, but I guess we'd still call it a ro-com because what else would it be? LOL!
Ha! Jenn, you're my favorite email-only-writing-buddy and Catherine Clark just happens to be my favorite Minneapolis-coffee-shop writing buddy. I love you both!
I can't pick a favorite, but I think Major Crush is the Ro Com that most changed my life...Dancing Queen and Major Crush were pub partners, and getting to go through the first-book-jitters with you was fabulous!
I'll miss you all, ladies (and guys who write as girls...).
Hmm there are a lot of good romantic comedies, but I love The Proposal and 27 Dresses! As far as books there are a ton, but I really enjoyed The Boys Next Door and Endless Summer, they are so cute!
My favorite rom com for a movie - tie between The Holiday and She's the Man (makes me laugh every time I watch it).
For a book...that's a tough one.
Probably either The Boyfriend League by Rachel Hawthorne (love baseball) or The Boys Next Door (the ending is totally sweet, with the roses).
Aw, Erin, that's so sweet! I say that Major Crush was my first novel, but really my first publication was the excerpt of Major Crush in the back of Dancing Queen. We are bonded for life, you and I.
A Rick and Sarah, y'all are sweet. I love She's the Man! And I haven't read The Boyfriend League but I really enjoyed Thrill Ride by Rachel.
The boys next door is my favorite book period. Not just fav rom com. And movie I would have to say the proposal.
My all-time favorite romantic comedy movie is "The Philadelphia Story" -- it's just a classic!
For books, I'd have to go with Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James.
Thank you Shanna! I've been dying to see The Proposal. And Christina, I'll have to read Practice Makes Perfect!
If we're talking book, it would have to be Major Crush. If we're talking movie, it would be What's Up, Doc?.
I really love Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, but my all time favorite will always be While You Were Sleeping. Two words: bicycle scene. Classic.
Loved all your books!
Amy
My favorite rom-com book of the summer was Endless Summer. The ridiculousness of Lori and Adam's love story had me laughing, swooning and wanting more, more, more! I even tried wake boarding because it seemed so fun in the book!
My Best Friends Wedding by far is my favorite. I also loved The Ugly Truth
Purpleranger, have we discussed What's Up Doc before? LOVE that movie. It was very formative for me. I probably watched it 20 times in my 14th year alone.
Amy...*squinting*...trying to remember the bicycle scene! I loved that movie but I haven't seen it in forever.
Actin' Up, thank you! I hope the wakeboarding turned out okay...
Jolene, those seem to be favorites here!
no question my favorite one would be "Going Too Far" by Jennifer Echols.
This made me soo sad!!! I love reading this blog!!! I hope you'll all keep writing the Simon Romantic Comedies though.
I don't watch many movies, but Major Crush and The Boys Next Door have to be my favorite books. Major Crush is so funny, I love all the funny little lines and stuff. :)
Jenn, you are the best!
I know I've said this before on the blog, by my favorite Ro Com is The Philadelphia Story, along with His Girl Friday and Bringing up Baby. (Basically, anything with Cary Grant or Katharine Hepburn.)
I loved LOVED FORGET YOU. IT was such a good book!
And my fav. ro-com movie would have to be, right now, The Bounty Hunter :))
My favorite rom com has to be MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING. I can watch if over and over again and never get tired of it!
Boy, I've been reading this stuff so long I can hardly even begin to name my favorites.
Book from when I was younger: Wrong Way Romance by Sheri Cobb South (From the classic Sweet Dreams series from Bantam)
Grown-up book: Everyone Else's Girl by Megan Crane
Teen movie: 10 Things I Hate About You
Grown-up movie: 50 First Dates ties with You've Got Mail
And I can't help but give a special nod to Love, Actually, even though parts of it are really sad and not romantic.
Aaah. *Sniff* I am so sad. Man. What will I buy now for my insatiable readers. Good luck to all of the Ro Com authors-- I'll be looking for new titles from you all!
Thanks to everyone for commenting and entering. I just drew a random winner with my sophisticated and expensive random-drawing equipment (i.e., I interrupted my son while he was watching Phineas and Ferb and made him draw a little piece of paper from the pile in my hand), and the winner is Kate!
